5 Healthy Hiking Snacks You've Got To Try

Hiking season is upon us! I love nothing more than being outside ALL DAY LONG on the trails.

But of course, you've got to fuel your adventure, so below are some of my favorite healthy hiking snacks that you can easily take on your next hike!

Here's what I consider healthy when it comes to hiking snacks - real, whole, simple foods that are minimally processed and nutrient dense.

Grocery store aisles are full of bars and granolas that are often pumped full of sugar. I always try to choose hiking snacks that are lower in sugar and higher in protein and save the sugary stuff for those rare moments on the trail when I'm really low on energy.

Delicious healthy hiking snacks are possible!

So before you hit the trails, pack these healthy, portable snacks in your backpack.

1. Apple and Almond Butter (or Peanut Butter)

2. Homemade Trail Mix (and combo of nuts, seeds, and fruit)

3. Protein Bars (Some of my current favorite bars are: Oatmega, Square Bars, and GoMacro)

4. Homemade Protein Energy Bites - below are some of my favorites!

5-minute protein peanut butter energy bites

salted date brownie energy bites

no-bake energy bites with ginger and turmeric (give me all the ginger and turmeric!!!)

5. Plantain Chips
