I recently went on an incredible backpacking trip in the Uinta Mountains.
I planned a 3 day trip where I hiked in, had a day off to relax in nature, and then hiked out the 3rd day.
IT WAS SO MUCH FUN, and I filmed my entire day off in the backcountry so you can see exactly what it’s like!
This video is a classic “day in the life” video with a backpacking twist! 😉
Don’t Take Life Too Seriously
Every time I go on a backpacking trip, look up at the night sky, or spend loads of time outdoors, my thoughts always come back to one simple thing - don't take life too seriously.
It's okay to be weird and silly and vulnerable and try new things and not be good at them.
It's okay to ENJOY your life in the moment, even if you don't feel like you have it all figured out yet.
In the video above, I was so incredibly happy.
I even said to Nick at one point “I’m so happy right now I literally could not feel any more full and energized and excited and complete than I do right now”.
It’s really easy for me to feel this way in nature, but NOTHING in my everyday life at home and work had changed. I still had a long to-do list and a lot of work to do at home.
This trip reminded me that I can CHOOSE to be happy NOW - that completeness and excitement is not a result of how much I achieve, but how much I notice.
Carefree Backpacking Days
One of the things I love about backpacking is how time seems to slow WAY down when I’m doing it.
While this trip was relatively short, I packed so much adventure into each moment and I came home feeling completely renewed and recharged.
There’s nothing better than having absolutely no plan for the day and being able to explore whatever you want - to be curious and carefree for a while. It’s fantastic!
